Gary Player designed. Opened in November 1989. Hilton Head National incorporates many of Player's philosophies on course layouts, stressing that while a golf course should be challenging, it should not punish unduly. Four sets of tees are strategically placed to test amateurs and professionals alike. It's signature features are the huge double green shared by holes 9 and 18 and the absence of homes on the golf course. The course was hewn from low-country forest and the property adjacent is still in its natural state.
